Frequently
Asked Questions

Question: Do you use Phen/Fen?
Answer: Absolutely not. The combination of Phen/Fen was popular in the 1990's but they discovered that this combination caused cardiac complications and the medication was taken off the market. The only medications we use are FDA-approved and are recommended by the National Institute of Health because of their well-studied long term safety and efficacy record.
Question: Do the appetite suppressants make you lose weight?
Answer: The appetite suppressants we use are effective for controlling hunger. The weight loss you achieve is based on following our dietary plan.
Question: What are the supplemental injections?
Answer: The supplemental injections we use are a combination of vitamins, minerals and amino acids, which include vitamin B12 to help enhance your overall weight loss. They are a program supplement to help eliminate fat, control carbohydrate metabolism, help your immune system and provide energy.
Question: Do the injections control my appetite?
Answer: No, the FDA-approved appetite suppressant or our non-stimulant supplement, Calla Complete (for those who for various reasons do not take the prescription appetite suppressant), help controls your appetite. The injections are simply to replace vitamins, minerals and amino acids that will be lacking in your diet because of the food volume restriction. The B12 will give you a boost of energy and improve your immune system and additional B6 can be used to help control water retention, bloating, premenstrual symptoms, menopausal symptoms and mood.
Question: What is the average weight loss of a patient on the program?
Answer: The typical patient who follows our program will lose 5 to 10 pounds during their 1st week and can experience 15 to 20 pounds of weight loss during their 1st month. The average weight loss after 12 weeks on the program is 42.4 pounds!
Question: I just had an EKG and/or blood work done. Can I bring that with me?
Answer: Our protocol requires us to perform an EKG and blood work during the initial visit. We will accept EKG’s and blood work results if they have been done within 3 months of your initial visit with us, however, this will not change the initial program fee. Based on your test results, our physicians may order additional tests when your weight loss goals are achieved to assess for improvement, which in many cases is astounding! These
follow-up tests are performed at no additional charge to you.
Question: Is it really necessary to come on a weekly basis?
Answer: We require weekly visits to assess your progress, monitor your vital signs, dispense your medication and make any indicated changes that may be needed to help you achieve your goal weight and ultimately a healthy lifestyle.
Question: What is the nutritional plan?
Answer: The foods we recommend are all easy to find and a normal part of everyday life. We use a low calorie diet that consists of lean protein, favorable carbohydrates and good fats. It is proven to lower blood insulin levels, which increases the body's ability to burn fat and curb sweet and starch cravings.
Question: Does the program incorporate any exercise?
Answer: We recommend that our patients continue any regular physical activity that they are accustomed to and will modify the plan accordingly. Although we do not specifically require a determined amount of exercise, our weight loss program gradually recommends and introduces a moderate amount of exercise, brisk walking in particular, that significantly improves overall health, well-being and quality of life. As progress is made, more detailed recommendations will be offered.
Question: What happens if I have medical problems? Will I be able to enroll?
Answer: Almost everyone who joins our program has a medical problem, especially those associated with being overweight such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol. Our physicians are experts in determining whether you are a suitable candidate for our program. If there are any unusual concerns based on your medical history or test results, we will obtain recommendations and/or medical clearance from your primary care physician or sub-specialist if it is necessary. Modifications to the program are made for every individual patient to meet their own unique needs.

Question: Are the appetite suppressants safe?
Answer: Yes. The prescription appetite suppressants we use are safe and effective for controlling hunger. They are FDA-approved and are recommended by the National Institute of Health for the treatment of weight loss.
Answer: No. Our program strictly uses only FDA approved treatments for weight loss and weight control. HCG is a drug that has not been approved by the food and drug administration as a safe or effective treatment for weight loss. Since 1975 and reissued in 2011, the FDA has required labeling of HCG to state the following:
HCG has not been demonstrated to be effective adjunctive therapy in the treatment of
obesity. There is no substantial evidence that it increases weight loss beyond that
resulting from calorie restriction, that it causes a more attractive or “normal”
distribution of fat, or that it decreases the hunger and discomfort associated with
calorie-restrictive diets.
No long-term studies have been performed to evaluate potential carcinogenic effect of HCG administration.
